This is the new P-COMP (pre-clinical optometric methods and procedures) blog. This will give us an opportunity to have online discussions about teaching or procedures questions that may come up, or maybe a forum to vent on the few bad teaching days that we might experience on hopefully rare occasions. Feel free to use this site to post comments, questions or any other issues whenever you feel the need.

First off, let me say bravo to you Mark for organizing this effort. This blog will be a great medium to share ideas and experiences with teaching this very important part of our student's curriculum. We can also post any useful websites, or review any books or technology that we currently use in our courses in this blog. When we get more users, you may consider adding more authors so others can post blog topics here other than in the comments area. You can accomplish this by adding authors under settings, then click on the permissions tab.
I teach part of what we call at NSU, the Optometric Theory and Methods (OTM) Course. I teach the very first part of the OTM sequence and currently use both blogging and podcasting technology. So far my students are responding very favorably to podcasting and I have a blast doing it as well.
Thanks again for getting this going and we will make sure we complete your survey.
Be well,

Hello,
Thanks so much for setting this up. I am new to teaching our clinical science courses at IU. I teach 2 of the 4 courses in our clinical sciences tract. Sounds very similar to NOVA's OTM. I spent the summer trying to find others at schools who could share ideas etc. THANKS Dr. Goodwin for the insight and help with GONIO!! Sorry, I couldn't meet up w/ you in Tampa. Somehow, Dr. Meetz and I missed the email of where to rendezvous!
I look forward to "picking" more brains on "how-to" in the future.
Great idea and thanks again,
Tiffenie Harris, OD

I agree. Thanks for setting this up and for getting the survey out in a timely manner.
